Today I got the chance to go to the gun range with my fiance, Uncle David, and my Grandpa. It was a lot of fun and I spent more time taking pictures and playing with my flash a little then I did actually shooting. It was a really great opportunity to work on fill and balence with flash. I still won't shoot James's Remington 700 but I did shoot my Uncle's AR-15 and man is that a great gun. Here are a few nice images and a few funs ones from today too.
My grandpa was born Dec 25, 1929 and here he is firing an AR-15.
What happens when direct flash goes horribly wrong.
And of course James being a goofball.
Last Friday I spent some time in the studio with my fiance and some friends. The goal was to get some nice headshots for James and to figure out a lighting pattern for my professional project on women's reproductive health if I do portraits. Here's a few of the results. I'm still in debate between color and b&w for my project but I'm leaning towards b&w for it's classic appeal and unifying element. The light will also be the same. I know the rim light is hot in the two light set up but the studio is super narrow and it just really needed to be backed up further. But honestly I'm really digging the single almost side light with a gold reflector on the other side. Any thoughts would be appreciated. And enjoy.

My camera is fixed!!!! I just got all my camera gear back in from the shop and cannot be happier to have it back. I spend last night with my little four month old cousin Aisling and made a handful of images for fun. Here are a few to enjoy! Best part is two months ago these images would not be possible because of focus problems. The CMOS assembly is now fixed and firmware updated.
